Pool Rules

The Boardman Pool & Recreation Center staff reserve the right to dismiss, suspend, or prohibit from the facility any person endangering the health, safety, or pleasure of the facility patrons. Guests must acknowledge and abide by facility age guidelines upon entry to the facility.

BPRD Pool Rules (See Model Aquatic Health Code 6.4.2.2.3)

  • In case of an emergency call 911.
  • Lifeguards must be on duty during all swimming activities.
  • No glass of any kind is allowed on the pool deck, including glass goggles and bottles.
  • Follow all staff instructions at all times. Failure to comply with facility rules or staff directions may result in immediate, non-refundable removal from the premises.
  • Verbal or physical abuse toward lifeguards or staff will not be tolerated and will result in immediate, non-refundable removal and possible trespass from the facility.
  • Exit the pool immediately when directed to do so by staff.
  • Patrons using the slide must be taller than 48” and be able to pass the swim test. Only one person on the slide at a time. Lifejackets are NOT allowed on the slide.
  • Lifeguards have the authority to require a swim test. The BPRD swim test is conducted as follows: Swimmers must jump into the deep end, recover to the surface, tread for 30 seconds and then float on their back before swimming to the side and exiting the water without using a ladder.

Oregon Health Authority Requirements

  • All patrons must shower before entering the pool.
  • Individuals with open sores, cuts, communicable diseases, diarrhea, or who have vomited within the last two weeks are prohibited from using the pool.
  • Children under 14 years of age must be accompanied and supervised by an adult (18 years of age or older) at all times.
  • Children 8 years of age and under must have an adult (18 years of age or older) in the water with the child at all times.
  • Swim diapers are required for all swimmers who are not toilet trained.
  • Diaper changing permitted in locker rooms/restrooms only!

Attire & Safety

  • Appropriate swimwear is required. No thongs, cheeky bottoms, see-through attire, or string-style swimwear. No jeans or jean shorts.
  • Service animals only. Service animals are not permitted in the pool.
  • No jumping or diving except in designated areas.
  • No food or beverages allowed in the pool or on the pool deck. Food and drinks are permitted only in the multipurpose room or patio.
  • No running, pushing, or horseplay in or around the pool, on the deck, in locker rooms, showers, or lobby areas.
  • Smoking, vaping, or tobacco use is prohibited within the facility and within 10 feet of all entrances, exits, ramps, windows, and air intakes.
  • Flotation devices must be U.S. Coast Guard-approved.
  • No open swim activities are permitted during aqua fitness classes, swim lessons or swim team practice.
  • Intimate displays of affection are not permitted within the facility.
  • Only BPRD conducted swim lessons are permitted.
  • Cell phones, cameras or other electronic devices may not be used or visible in the locker rooms or restrooms. Video recording and photography is prohibited in the locker room, restrooms and the pool deck.
  • Intentional hyperventilation or extended breath holding activities are DANGEROUS and prohibited.
  • No person under the influence of alcohol may use the pool.

*It shall be a violation for any patron to not comply with any written or oral rules, regulations, or requirements imposed by BPRD Aquatic personnel. Personal conduct in and around the aquatic facilities must be such that the safety of self and others is not jeopardized. Any such violation may result in immediate removal from the facility.
